These are 2 types of dry shampoo we usually see: aerosols – most popular ones, and the ones in powder form. You probably know, that aerosols are VERY unfriendly to ozone layer and environment, and the packaging it comes with – will stay on earth like ..forever.. But there is more to know about it.
Aerosol dry shampoos use a chemical propellant that sprays out of the can, onto your hair and into the air. This colorless, odorless gas is called LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and is made up of butane, propane and isobutane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, you heard right, propane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These gasses pose serious risks such as respiratory issues, headaches, hormone disruption, organ (aka brain + liver) damage and not only cause long-term harm to the body, but are destructive to the environment and the earth, as well.
\nNot only is your hair and scalp going to suffer from continued use of dry shampoo from an aerosol can, but have you considered where most of the product is actually ending up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients to avoid in your dry shampoo<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talc<\/strong>
Talc acts as an absorbent in dry shampoo; it\u2019s a powdered native, hydrous magnesium silicate that may have asbestos fibers in it, which poses a risk for respiratory toxicity and cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alcohol denat<\/strong>
Denatured alcohol is ethanol, or ethyl alcohol, mixed with a denaturing agent. Ethanol is broadly toxic. It also will dry out hair and scalp, that may cause skin and hair problems, like itchiness, dandruff, ect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parabens<\/strong>
Parabens are a fragrance ingredient and a preservative. Paraben mimics estrogen, acting as a potential hormone system disruptor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fragrance (perfume)<\/strong>
Fragrance is a known human immune toxicant and possibly a human respiratory irritant. Fragrance has been associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system, because it contains undisclosed list of ingredients – you will never know what’s inside. Are there any safe products available on the market? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For sure. If you search, you will definately find some great dry shampoos in powder form. Just check the labels! (we already did, found amazing one and now have it at our store! Dry Shampoo from EARTH RYTHM<\/a>)
Non-toxic shampoos consist of powders, such as arrowroot, clay, starch, cocoa, rice flour, other. They should not contain artificial fragrance, only the natural ones, that come from essential oils. Most of the ingredients should be organic or botanicals. The best ones come cardboard package, to be friendly to you and environment!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
